The U.S. Constitution And Slavery

History Of Slavery

James Madison said:“Twenty years will produce all the mischief that can be apprehended from the liberty to import slaves. So long a term will be more dishonorable to the American character that to say nothing about it in the Constitution.”

There has been much discussion lately about the U.S. Constitution and Slavery.  I decided to research the early accounts rather than recent articles, and I uncovered some unexpected and interesting information.  To learn more about this subject click on The Constitution and Slavery.

The District Of Columbia Emancipation Act was not a enumerated power within the Constitution, but a document well worth noting. Notice how the same information from the Washington Times writing about the Emancipation Act can be twisted by leaving out the fact that the deportation was voluntary.
